David Johnson has a passion for community service. Over the years, David has contributed and structured many fundraisers benefitting the Plum Borough community where he lives and the Penn Hills community where he works. His latest event was a 2013 summer food drive benefitting the Plum Borough Food Pantry. The food drive donated critical supplies and monies to the food pantry to stock the shelves for the “back to school” season. In 2012, his Halloween Party raised funding for the four local fire departments. In 2011, David hosted an Appreciation Day Luncheon for Plum Municipal Workers, and with a joint venture including many local businesses, was able to donate pet oxygen masks and stuffed animals to all the local fire and EMS departments. He held an event in 2010 that raised over $10,000 for the Plum and Penn Hills EMS which were used to purchase life-saving EMS equipment. In all events, the total has been over $25,000 of donated funds.
Other sponsored events have included a Penn Hills Police breakfast, an annual Thanksgiving Day dinner for all the Plum Borough EMS and the Plum Borough police department and, along with the Plum Chamber of Commerce, the annual “Breakfast with Santa” to help raise monies for the local school district library fund.
